Dear Editor,
Richard Cheatham's article entitled Rampant Patriotism refers to the internment of Japanese and Japanese - Americans during WW2, and mentions that Germans (German-Americans) were not interned. That is factually incorrect since Germans and German-Americans were interned in Camps in New Jersey. Granted the number was smaller, but that was probably because Japanese were more easily identified due to their physical features.
My source is impeccable – my Aunt Maria had the honor. Fortunately she lived to be 97 years old despite her unpleasant stay in the “camp”
