...if we have another terrorist attack, the American people will demand even more infringements on our rights. This, according to Laura Ingraham, radio pundit, while interviewing Steven J. Cannell, TV impressario, author and sometime political commentator.

Cannell took the position that the sneak and peek searches that are authorized under the Patriot Act are unConstitutional under 4A.

But, wow, Laura. A trained attorney who clerked for Clarence Thomas, the slippery slope seems to be a veritable avalanche under an Ingraham regime. First, she premises our giving up the right not to be searched on the notion that IF an attack MIGHT happen. Then, she presumes to know WHAT the "American people" will demand SHOULD that happen. How can she possibly know whether any of this might happen?

Of course we all want our life and limb to be protected, especially from crazed terrorists. But where would Ingraham stop? Life is filled with hazards...from terrorists, bad drivers, and overreaching governments. Would it be OK by Laura if her show was censored by the Government because it MIGHT insight a terrorist, for example?

Methinks things are getting a bit out of hand here.
