Not one to shy from my errors, I'll 'fess up, per a previous blog. There I suggested that the Rehnquist replacement might show how the Bushies are fraying.

Elevating Roberts to a Chief Justice nominee seems to be a pretty good punt by the Bush team. The Dems have unearthed little against Roberts, who has assiduously avoided any really grievous smoking guns in his career...a few, but no non-starters like Bork, Scalia, or Thomas. And this buys them some time to replace Roberts for the O'Connor slot.

Gotta hand it to 'em. Bush, Cheney, Rove and Card were not looking too good a few days ago, but they're recovering, it seems. While we love it when our team goes for it on 4th and short -- despite the odds -- we scream at the coach if he tries to go for it on 4th and long early in the second half in a close game.

It's sorta just a weird feeling when neither team is our team, a detached "what ARE they doing?" kinda thing.
