In response to Ali Massoud's article "Don't Blame the Victim, Just Make 'em Pay More," I would just like to say that I think a 10% FEMA income tax is a terrible idea to inflict upon entire states. Georgia (where I live) is a coastal state, but my home in Atlanta is hours away from the coast in all directions and sustains very little damage from hurricanes. Why should Atlantans, who compose a large part of the Georgia population, be forced to pay this tax? We would bear the brunt of it because of our higher incomes and population density, but never reap the benefits. Isn't this something a libertarian would fight against?

Great idea! Let people carry the burden of the risk they take on when they choose to live in these hazardous areas.

Ali nailed it.....I too am tired of the costs associated with rebuilding. Mother nature's not going to change....so we need to change....the change needed is the mentality of the American people to expect tax dollars to fix failing thinking -- rebuilding areas that will be hit again is failed thinking.
Keep saying it Ali!!!
