For Immediate Release

Arlington, VA USA – The Wingbeat Project - a non-partisan social entrepreneurship venture - has announced it will launch a series of monthly contests designed to gather the best ideas in social change.
Winning ideas will be published for application by non-profits, government agencies, and other social entrepreneurs ready to embrace fresh ideas for a strengthened civil society, peace and prosperity.
Cash awards will be given to entrants with the best ideas in positive social change. Upcoming contests include environmental conservation, education reform, urban renewal, and rising healthcare costs.
“I believe this model will not only encourage people to get involved in today’s most pressing social issues, but it will help us gather great ideas from all segments of society,” said founder Max Borders. “Social entrepreneurship isn’t just a flash in the pan, but the start of a new economic sector devoted to human improvement.”
The monthly contests are designed to encourage people to submit as many ideas as possible. As the number of idea-entries increases, the cash award grows. Matching funds are also available to topic-appropriate organizations and individuals committed to starting social entrepreneurship projects.
Here’s how it works: Entrants contribute just $5 to the Wingbeat Project over the Web. Contributors are then eligible to enter their ideas in 500 words or less. At the end of the month, a distinguished panel of judges will review the best entries and choose a winner for the month. Winning ideas will be published and archived by topic area, as well as marketed to relevant organizations.
The panel of judges for the Wingbeat Project includes a diverse group of people from a number of industries including: the non-profit sector, the business community, and think-tanks.
“I think people more and more people are going to start liking the idea of social capitalism,” says Mr. Borders. “When people can direct their ideas and resources to causes they care about, things get done more effectively and efficiently.”
