They want to ban smoking on outdoor patios in Vancouver, BC. Why can't I find raw data linking open air secondhand smoke to cancer, illness or death. Maybe I will be convinced if somebody could show me "verifiable" data proving that secondhand smoke on an outdoor patio is more dangerous than, say, the exhaust released from the countless vehicles that pass by the average outdoor patio in any North American city.

I find it very disturbing that the powers that be put more effort in convincing people that secondhand smoke is dangerous but I don't see the same effort to convince people that the levels of carbon monoxide released into the air in all cities is harmful.
