I have to disagree with your October 10th Editorial "An Anti-War Defense of Blackwater"

Following the tradition of Locke and Nozick, I feel that the only unquestionably legitimate role for government is a "rights protection agency built on a monopoly on the legitimate use of force." This is something that should not be outsourced.

As for the claim that Blackwater can help deter wars, this cannot be the case as long as Blackwater has lobbyists and political connections in Washington. Blackwater profits by war and loses money by peace. From that perspective they have a rational incentive, even more so than Boeing or Haliburton, to promote war.
