"Illegal drugs" like Tar Baby

Re: A Victimless Crime? Carl Milsted Jr.'s Nov 7th article at

Nothing new in the drug warriors' claim. In the 1920s the victim was the
family and the criminal was the 'bad husband', who spent his Friday
paycheck in the saloons. The Saloons were all outlets for the breweries,
all owned by the hated, post-WW-I German immigrants, who had the
temerity to let their children into their saloons -- on the Sabbath, no
less. Or was "society" the victim? Why is the question even asked? The
question should be how to remedy the pain.

I personally know many hard-working, alert people who smoke pot daily. I
personally know people who have gotten tangled up in meth or cocaine and
finally decided to get off because the abuse just wore them out. I
personnally know pain patients who use enough opiate to easily kill a
person who had not developed a tolerance to it, as all chronic pain
patients ultimately do. These patients are alert, thinking people. One
such patient is Richard Paey in Florida. (You can find him by googling
"Paey"). Anyone who doesn't understand these things has been conditioned
to believe the distortions and parsings coming out of the Beltway. We
should all be ashamed. Lincoln was wrong. It IS possible to fool all the
people all the time.`

"Illegal drugs" are like the Tar Baby of the Uncle Remus stories. They
just sit there, say nothing, and wait for the hate-filled passerby to
trap himself.
