Rio Grande Foundation Hosts Discussion on “The Debt we’re Leaving our Children” with Sheila Weinberg, Founder of the Institute for Truth in Accounting

(Albuquerque) – Are you concerned that our elected officials are mortgaging our nation’s future? Do you worry what our government really owes to debtors in China, the Middle East, and around the world? Did you know that the federal debt is really $59 trillion dollars and that it grew $5 trillion just last year?

The fact is that until taxpayers are better educated about the true scope of our governments’ financial problems, our elected officials will put off addressing them. Weinberg’s professional mission, and that of her organization, is to educate taxpayers on the issues and spur greater interest in keeping government honest about where the money goes.

If the ever-growing deficits and tax burdens associated with government concern you – and they should – attend this free forum sponsored by the Rio Grande Foundation.

In her role with the Center, Sheila Weinberg, Founder of the Institute for Truth in Accounting, works with members of Congress to bring greater transparency to federal financial reporting. She has testified before the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board and met with high level federal government officials to encourage greater government accountability. Weinberg has authored numerous educational documents such as “Fuzzy Math: Fuzzy Decisions: Truth and Transparency in Federal Decision Making,” and “Where Has All the Money Gone? A Guide to Truth in Federal Government Accounting.”
